Biblical Storytelling is.... *the spiritual practice of learning a biblical story by heart with at least 75% verbal accuracy and 95% content accuracy. This is done not by rote memorization but by steeping in the story, researching it, embodying and internalizing the story - connecting with the emotions of the story and characters. putting yourself in the story.
*telling the story to an audience, engaging them in the story and drawing them in. This takes the story back to its original form of orality before the majority of the people were literate. the bible was handed down to us through faithful storytellers and eventually written.
*bringing the story to life by using gestures and movement of your body in the space of the story, walking, sitting, whatever makes the story real. people who listen to biblical storytellers say that the story no longer feels like it happened a long time ago, but that it is happening now as they are listening.
